Deep in our hearts, we know that God’s love extends far beyond the sanctuary walls made of wood and concrete. When you walk through Southminster, you can’t help but witness God’s love in action – praying, singing, reading, gardening, meal preparation, Thrift Store operations, Community Lunches, UCW, social gatherings, Drop-In Centre activities, garage sales and barbeques. Hands held, tears wiped, laughter shared. All of this, in addition to behind-the-scenes work that takes place – everything from planning and financing to shopping, sifting, sorting, table setting and clearing, moving of furniture, cleaning and mopping, digging of dirt and pulling of weeds.
Look a little closer and you see Bee Montessori Niagara, Highland Dancers, Yoga, our Community Gardens, outdoor rentals (tents available), and many other people using the facilities for family and community celebrations and fundraising activities. So many people working together, sharing in so many different ways – collectively demonstrating how God’s love is not only alive but also hard at work – in everyone!
Southminster is most assuredly doing its part to help fan little flames of hope, sharing what we have generously, and serving as God’s hands and feet in our community. Working together enables us to be a place of hope and healing, a place of new life and new beginnings, a place where everyone is welcome for many years to come.
Southminster is both a blessed and a blessing faith community. Thanks be to God for each and every person, for resources of all kinds, for words and wisdom, hugs and handshakes and so much more.
